COMMUNITY
Life Stream was originally founded as Allendale Wesleyan Church in 1851 and has grown to have over 1,000 attendees weekly either in person or online. Our West Michigan campus is in the transformed Allendale High School, which is now a state-of-the-art worship and community center. Allendale is a growing township of 30,000 residents conveniently located between pristine Lake Michigan beaches and the growing metropolis of Grand Rapids. It is also home to the main campus of Grand Valley State University, a public university with over 23,000 students.

POSITION DESCRIPTION
The new Lead Pastor will be a Kingdom oriented Christ follower who is aligned with Wesleyan theology. They will lead Life Stream, through discernment of the Holy Spirit’s leading, to produce the fruit God plans for us. They will create a culture where relationships are built on love, collaboration, and forgiveness, as we unite to pursue God’s vision. They will engage with local churches, businesses, and local government to bring the gospel to a multi-generational community.

RESPONSIBILITES

• Communicate biblical truth clearly in sermons that result in action for believers and non-believers alike
• Build strong relationships with ministry partners including the staff, board, and congregation
• Speak the truth in love when addressing challenges; demonstrate grace and kindness in conflict
• Develop both staff and lay leaders giftings toward new or growing ministry opportunities
• Initiate a Holy-Spirit led vision for the church and operate a collaborative approach to implement it
• Equip the staff, board, and other leaders for success in their areas of responsibility
• Receive counsel, accountability, and feedback from appropriate church leadership; apply guidance to grow as a leader and in intimacy with God

QUALIFICATIONS

• 3-5 years of service in a church or para-church ministry with multi-person staff, preferably as a Lead Pastor
• Bachelor’s degree in Biblical Studies, Ministry Leadership, or other applicable area of study, Master’s of Divinity is preferred
• Ordained, or willingness to be ordained, by the Wesleyan Church
• Excellent stewardship of resources, including time, talent, and tithe, in their personal life
• Willing to take obedient risks to pursue God’s vision in creative ways
• If married, deeply committed to their family and maintains healthy boundaries on behalf of their family with a supportive spouse who embraces this call
